Without an Estate Plan:

  • State laws may decide who gets your property and in what amounts.
  • A Judge will decide who will care for your minor children.
  • Your estate may end up in Probate Court, making your assets and family information a matter of public record that is accessible through the internet.
  • You may miss an opportunity to reduce or eliminate estate taxes, which are imposed under current law at a maximum rate of approximately 45% by the IRS and 7% by the state of Ohio.

8 Documents you need to preserve your wealth and provide for your family in the event of your death or disability:

  • Trust
  • Durable General Power of Attorney
